BANFF MOUNTAIN FILM FESTIVAL 2025

The Banff Tour shows the best adventure films of the Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival, which takes place annually in November in the small town of Banff in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. The festival has now been around for over 45 years and has since become a popular meeting place for fans and filmmakers.
But to make sure that outdoor film fans all over the world don't miss out, a selection of the best films will go on a big world tour after the festival and will also make a stop at your place.

Line-up

DROPPING MOLLY • Climber Molly Mitchell is constantly seeking new challenges in her sport—but also self-affirmation. The American gravitates toward risky routes, such as Crank It (5.13c) in Boulder Canyon, Colorado. Molly aims to climb Crank It in a trad climbing style, deliberately choosing not to use the existing bolts—even though they are there for a good reason. After a severe climbing accident, Molly begins to question whether her sport plays too significant a role in her life and decides to confront her inner conflicts in a new way. 26'

GOING EAST • Max Kroneck, Joi Hoffmann, Silvia Moser, and Loïc Isliker embark on a very special ski trip. In Going East, the four freeriders set out to discover the best ski descents of Eastern Europe – relying solely on public transport. Armed with a handful of train tickets, they venture into uncharted terrain, meeting local freeriders who guide them to their favorite lines in their home mountains. It’s a journey into the unknown, filled with hours of uncomfortable train rides, surprises at every turn, and constant new experiences in unfamiliar mountains — mountains that seem far away but are, in reality, so close. 33'

A TEAM SPORT • Ultra-runner Courtney Dauwalter is one of the greatest athletes in the history of the sport. In 2023, she continued to shatter records, becoming the first person ever to claim the Triple Crown of ultra-running by winning three iconic 100+ mile races back-to-back in a single summer. A Team Sport explores how much an ultrarunner relies on their team to secure a podium finish in races like the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc, introducing the people behind Courtney's extraordinary success. 16'

ANYTIME – CALI • California calling: Slopestyle king Emil Johansson showcases breathtaking tricks in the stunning hills of California, combining athleticism and aesthetics at the highest level. The four-time Slopestyle World Champion was determined not to deliver a typical contest run but to let his creativity flow freely. This marked his first solo shoot for a bike film segment – a truly special experience for him. 6'

FARMING TURNS • From freeskier to organic farmer. For ten years, freeskier Chris Rubens lived his dream, flying around the world in search of the best lines. But on a ski trip to Greenland, he witnesses the impact of climate change firsthand. Rising temperatures, melting glaciers—where will it all lead? Troubled by what he has seen, he begins to question his way of life and makes an important decision: he plans to travel less, eat less meat, and even start an organic farm—despite having no experience with farming. 25'
