HAVEN SURF FILMFEST #2

presented by Vans Surf

Glad to announce the second edition of the Haven Surf Filmfest, an afternoon dedicated to surf culture and just like last year, we return to Zuiderpershuis with movies, music, food, drinks and expositions from local (surf) photographers, shapers & designers.

ISLAND X | Directed by Ben Weiland
After losing his entire life's work in a fire, photographer Mark McInnis assembles a team of surfers and sets out on a gruelling mission to track down undiscovered waves on the most unlikely of islands, located in the violent Bering Sea.

FACING MONSTERS | KERBY BROWN | Directed by Bentley Dean
Facing Monsters digs deep into the psyche of enigmatic West Australian ‘slab wave’ surfer Kerby Brown. It’s a film about fear, addictions, and family bonds as we explore what drives Kerby, what anchors him and why he’s obsessed with pitting himself against one of nature’s most intimidating forces.

THE PHYSICS OF NOSERIDING | Directed by Lauren L. Hill
How does noseriding work? What makes this suspension between sea and sky possible?
The Physics of Noseriding explores these questions through the eyes of Namaala, a young surfer whose people were flying on the water before the world even knew what surfing was.

DÉPLACER LE SILENCE | LOLA MIGNOT | Directed by Oscar Valencia
Filmed in 16mm/8mm format “Déplacer Le Silence” is a nostalgic vision of surfing in Biarritz directed by a freelance filmmaker, Oskar Valencia. This short video project captures the timeless summer on the French coast portrayed by a professional surfer from Mexico, Lola Mignot.

HAIKU | KARINA ROZUNKO | Directed by Karina Rozunko & Jimmy Jazz
Karina Rozunko is poetry in motion. Both on land and on a log, she's equal parts style, grace, and improvisation. According to the creative duo, the concept of the movie is based on a Japanese style poem which depicts a tiny moment of time, suggestive of nature that evokes a definite, though unstated, emotional response

CROSSING BOARDERS | KEPA ACERO | Directed by Jon Aspuru
Kepa Acero is a pioneer and one of the key figures of the adventure surfing scene. The Basque surfer is an expert in finding virgin waves with the help of Google Earth and has built a lifestyle around it. For this new trip, Kepa set off with his mates Natxo and Aritz to Liberia, in West Africa. The goal was simple: to surf a new wave with friends. However, achieving it proved more complicated than they expected. They needed to cross the border between Liberia and Sierra Leone.
